CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS: Auditory processing and reading skills will be tested

Child research participant

YOU WILL BE PAID $80 FOR 5 HOURS OF YOUR TIME!

If you have a reading problem or a listening concern, please consider participating in our study. We are including children with auditory processing disorder and reading disability.

We are trying to explain how children aged 8 to 11 years learn to read. Their Auditory processing and reading skills will be tested.

Testing will be conducted over two sessions, 2.5 hours each (as suitable to the family).

Requirements:

  • Children must have English as their native language.
  • Children must be attending a school that teaches in the English medium.
  • Children should have no hearing impairment.

How do children learn how to read? Is memory involved? What about listening? In this study we will be using a variety of fun tests which will assess a child’s reading, memory, language and attention. We will also use AEPs (Auditory Evoked Potentials) to look at the brain activity when the child is listening to sounds. The tests are harmless and non-invasive.
