Hearing, language and cognition in children

Hearing loss has an impact on children’s lives including, language and cognition, speech perception and production and emotional health.

  • Increase knowledge of the relationship between sensory deprivation and brain reorganisation, language and cognition, and effects of amplification, cochlear implantation and other forms of remediation on brain processes.
  • Understand the relationship between speech perception and production, language processing and its use in real-life environments in children.
  • Evaluate long-term outcomes of children with hearing aids/cochlear implants in real world environments.
