Professor Graeme Clark, inventor of the multi-channel cochlear implant, and Brett Lee, former Australian cricketer and Cochlear ambassador, met for the first time in February to celebrate International Cochlear Implant Day and World Hearing Day 2020. The special event, organised by Cochlear and The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, was attended by cochlear recipients and hearing partners from all over the country.
Professor Clark and Brett Lee, along with special guest speakers Professor Rob Briggs from the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, Grant Holley from the Graeme Clark Foundation and recipient Dr. Andrea Lindsay, spoke to a captivated audience about adult hearing loss in Australia and the need to need to increase awareness of treatment options available.
All attendees were given the chance to meet Professor Clark and Brett Lee over morning tea, before they donned the cricket whites to film an impromptu cricket match.
