Adults with late onset hearing loss face increased communication difficulties, and are at risk of language and cognitive decline, which can affect their physical, social and emotional well-being.

• Investigate the relationship between sensory deprivation, brain reorganisation and cognition; and the effects of amplification and cochlear implantation on brain processes.
• Understand the relationship between hearing loss, hearing handicap, the environment, and social, physical and emotional well-being.
