Listening and Learning in Aboriginal Children (LiLAC)

Overview

This project is led by Professor Catherine McMahon and runs parallel to the Improving care pathways for Otitis Media in Aboriginal children project. Aboriginal children with hearing loss due to otitis media often need help with speech and language, usually given through a speech and language service provider. However, it can be hard for Aboriginal families to find culturally safe and appropriate supports.

Working with three Aboriginal communities, The Shepherd Centre, NextSense, Hearing Australia and First Voice we aim to co-design culturally safe early speech and language supports to be used by these service providers and Aboriginal families.
