15 experts from Macquarie University, National Acoustics Laboratories and The Royal Institute of Deaf and Blind Children came together to discuss collaborative project ideas in the area of ‘neurophysiological measures in hearing’. The workshop was led by Jaime Undurraga Lucero, Bram Van Dun and WaiKong Lai using a design thinking approach.
During the workshop, the most pressing needs according to the experts were identified in their field of research. Then, the workshop attendees identified and collaboratively explored solutions in the use of objective measures in hearing with an aim towards developing clinical tools and techniques that can be applied to individualised treatments.
Eight project ideas were identified, varying between basic hearing science and practical clinical tools. Next steps will involve selecting the highest ranking ideas in terms of impact and feasibility, and develop grant applications or new technologies.
