Led by Dr Lindsey Van Yper (Audiology – Department of Linguistics) we were awarded the Macquarie University Research Infrastructure Scheme (small). Via this scheme, we obtained $59,485 to purchase audiological equipment that will be used to (1) calibrate headphones, and (2) perform hearing screening.
Both are crucial steps in any experiment involving sound: calibration ensures that the correct intensity levels are presented during the experiment, and hearing screening is required to evaluate whether a participant meets the inclusion criteria.
Having access to this equipment will benefit the entire Macquarie University Hearing team. It will promote the efficiency of the team and will enhance our research capacity and impact.
