Professor Louise Hickson AM wins Hearing Australia Lifetime Achievement Award

The 2023 Hearing Australia Lifetime Achievement award was presented to Professor Louise Hickson AM by the Hon Bill Shorten MP, Minister for the NDIS and Government Services, on 8 November in Sydney.

This Award recognises individuals in the hearing sector that have made a significant and sustained contribution to improving the hearing health of Australians.

Louise has won numerous awards recognising her contributions to audiology. She has published over 280 research articles, books and book chapters. Her main focus has been on the effects of hearing impairment on people’s everyday lives and on the development of strategies and interventions that improve the uptake and outcomes of hearing rehabilitation.

She was made a Member of the Order of Australia in June last year for her service to tertiary education and audiology associations. She is currently Associate Dean External Engagement in the Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences at The University of Queensland and President of the International Society of Audiology.

Louise has been truly instrumental in supporting and improving the lives of people with hearing loss over many years. Congratulations Louise!
